Program Booklet full size is 5/ 1/2 x 7. Please format ad according to these measurements applicable to the ad size purchasing( full page, 1/2 page,  Standard business card size is 3.5 x 2 inches.) Image file formats for printing  CMYK. Preferred file formats are:

JPEG, JPG, TIFF, TIF, or PDF.

How To Prepare Your Files

Step 1, Resolution
Your resolution must be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the exact size of the image. So if your flyer is 4"X 6", then it should be at least 300 dpi at 4 inches by 6 inches.

Note- some computer programs default to 72 dpi, so please double check and manually change to 300 dpi before uploading your files.

Step 2, Size

If this is your first time preparing a file for gang run printing, then you need to make sure that the size is exact. If your flyer is 4" X 6" then your design needs to be 4” X 6”.

Step 3, Bleed

In gang run printing terms, bleed means graphics, pictures or colors that will “bleed” off the edge. Keep in mind that you will want to keep anything that cannot be trimmed at least 1/8 of an inch from every edge, because during the trimming process the actual cut may vary slightly.

To be safe, do not place any copy or graphics that cannot be trimmed, within 1/4 of an inch from each side. This is sometimes also referred to as the “safe area”.

Step 4, Transferring Files

Name each of your files a unique name and avoid generic names like 'front' and 'back'. Most people find the easiest way to name files is by content title, which side the file represents, and the date of the file so you know you are accessing your latest version.

For example- Restaurant_Valentines_Flyer_Front_1-31-11

files accepted are:  JPEG, JPG, TIFF, TIF, or PDF.

Step 5, Colors

RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue, these 3 colors are used to see the visuals you see on your computer. When you design for print you can use RGB colors, but do a 'soft proof' in CMYK colors to catch any color change, because our printers use the 4 color ink system, CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black).

For example: When you see 'red' on your computer screen, this is actually printed with a combination of 'magenta' and 'yellow'. That is why after you design your flyer in RGB color it is advisable to do a 'soft proof' on your screen in CMYK.

Step 6, RGB Black vs. CMYK black

The black you see on your computer screen is a very rich black made in the RGB mode as Red=0, Green=0 and Black=0. Or as displayed in your computer program R-0, G-0 and B-0. When converted on a four color press (CMYK) the black becomes very rich because our prepress software will convert it to C-100, M-100, Y-100, and K-100, which is too much ink and will cause “offsetting” to occur. If blacks are built this way, there is not much that can be done to keep this from occurring.

To make sure your black inks print correctly, as you set up your file in RGB, use R-10, G-4 and B-2 and in CMYK, use C-60, M-40, Y-40 and K-100.

Step 7, Proofing

Please proof everything before you upload, including correct spelling, correct fonts and correct images.  You are solely responsible for all proofing before emailing files. Kidz Rock Awards assumes no responsibility for proofing and considers uploaded files 100% ready to print.  Email to: info@kidzrockawards.com
